Legal help offered to 64-yr old man stranded in Jamaica

I CAN SEE, Jamaica — Several legal officials from Jamaica and overseas have reacted to today's story in the Jamaica Observer where a 64-year-old man was left stranded in the island after spending a two-week vacation.
"I read about the story regarding Mr Bogle and believe it is a case that we can provide some assistance," a lawyer from England said on Tuesday.
"We have heard about cases such as the one regarding Mr Bogle and we believe help can be provided,” said another lawyer, also based overseas.
Lloyd Bogle, a Jamaican living in Britain for over 50 years, visited Jamaica in September 2014 but was prevented from leaving the island by immigration officers because he did not have a British visa.
Bogle said his ordeal started on October 13, 2014 when he went to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay for a return flight to England, only to be told by immigration officials that they could not allow him to leave.
"I got the shock of my life when I was turned back and told by authorities that I would have to have a visa to leave the country," said Bogle, who added that he was not aware of the travel requirement.
Bogle, since leaving Jamaica in 1962 just before the country achieved political independence from Britain, never applied for British citizenship. In fact, he said he didn't renew his Jamaican passport until just before he travelled here in September.
Totally unfamiliar with Jamaica, Bogle, since being denied re-entry to Britain, has been forced to depend on the benevolence of others to survive.
